Couples Therapy
For couples who are ready to step outside of unhealthy patterns, understand what drives their behaviors, and develop a much stronger, more satisfying connection.
Jaclyn Zeal, LMFT is an experienced relationship therapist licensed to treat clients throughout the state of Pennsylvania. Her work incorporates attachment science, nervous system regulation, and a depth-oriented approach to deepen relationships.
All sessions are conducted online, which makes high-quality relational therapy more accessible.
A great relationship is life-changing
Great relationships aren't accidental — they're built. And when things have gotten hard, painful, or distant, coming back to each other is one of the most courageous things two people can choose to do.
And while not every relationship is meant to go the distance, I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing countless couples transform their relationship by coming to this work with their hearts open.
I’m not the type of therapist to send you home with tools and worksheets and expect that to shift your relationship. Instead, we delve in to the hurt, the pain, the challenges and we give language to what hasn’t been spoken. We explore the deeper needs and longings that often go underground. And we find hope in the moments when partners finally feel heard, acknowledged, and important.
What couples therapy with me actually looks like:
We start by understanding your unique relationship patterns — the cycles you get stuck in, the triggers that set you off, and the unmet needs driving your conflicts.
In our sessions, I won't just sit back and nod. I'll help you slow down those heated moments, identify what's really happening beneath the surface, and coach you through how to respond differently. You'll learn to hear each other without defensiveness, repair ruptures effectively, and rebuild emotional and physical intimacy.
This isn't about assigning blame or picking sides. It's about understanding how both of your histories, attachment styles, and nervous systems interact — and creating new patterns that actually work.
Some challenges my clients face:
Inability to effectively
resolve conflict
Struggling to romantically connect as parents
Rebuilding after infidelity
or betrayal
My approach combines:
The therapy here draws on several evidence-based frameworks, integrated around what each couple needs most.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) forms the backbone — a well-researched model built on attachment science that helps couples identify their cycle, understand the emotions and needs beneath it, and build new patterns of connection.
Relational Life Therapy (RLT) adds depth around relational dynamics — exploring how family legacies and learned roles show up between partners.
Nervous system regulation — Learn to recognize when you're triggered, calm your stress response, and stay present with your partner even during difficult conversations
“After 22 years of marriage, I did not know that my husband and I were capable of the kind of emotional connection and intimacy we have begun to experience through our work with Jaclyn. She has given us far more than communication strategies. She has given us the tools reconnect in ways I did not know were possible.”

Frequently Asked Questions About Couples Therapy
-
You don't have to be on the verge of separation to benefit from couples therapy.
Couples come to me because they keep having the same arguments, feel emotionally or physically disconnected, struggle to repair after conflict, or simply don't feel as close as they used to.
You can also come because you want to strengthen an already-good relationship.
-
Yes. In fact, recurring conflict is often less about the topic you're arguing about and more about the cycle you get caught in.
We'll slow that cycle down and look at what's happening underneath the conflict—the emotions, needs, fears, and patterns that keep the same argument coming back.
-
Yes.
Therapy after betrayal can involve grief, anger, accountability, rebuilding trust, and difficult questions about what comes next.
I won't tell you whether you should stay together or separate. I'll help you understand what has happened, what each of you needs, and what moving forward could look like.
-
This is more common than you might think.
A hesitant partner may be worried about being blamed, uncomfortable talking about the relationship, or unsure whether therapy will actually help.
You don't have to solve that before reaching out. We can talk about what's happening during a consultation and decide together what makes sense.
-
I won't simply sit back and listen while you argue.
We'll look at the patterns you get stuck in, slow down heated moments, and identify what's happening beneath the surface. I'll help you practice new ways of responding to each other so that you're not just learning about your relationship—you’re actually experiencing something different together.
-
There's no set number of sessions that works for every couple.
Some couples come in with a specific concern, while others are working through longstanding patterns, betrayal, or significant disconnection.
We'll regularly assess what's changing and what still needs attention.

No, but many of my clients do seek insurance reimbursement since I am considered an out-of-network provider.
First, find out if you qualify for out-of-network benefits. If you do, our client portal automatically creates a superbill of the previous month’s invoices, which is what you will forward to your insurance company for reimbursement.
How to find out if you have out-of-network benefits:
Clients reach out directly to their insurance provider to find out if they have out-of-network benefits. You’ll call your insurance provider and ask the following questions:
• Do I have out-of-network benefits for mental or behavioral health with this policy?
• Do I have an out-of-network deductible?
• If yes:
• What is my out-of-network deductible?
• How much of my out-of-network deductible has been met?
• What is the start date of the calendar year my out-of-network policy is based on?
Ask the representative what percentage does the policy cover for the following services:
90791 - Intake Session
90834 - Individual psychotherapy
90847 - Couples Therapy
